A Recent Email Regarding Filming Tennis with the MUVI

Here’s a recent email I received from a customer about the MUVI and recording tennis, where a customer had a question about recording with the MUVI.  We always try to provide quick and relevant replies to any questions you might have.

Wow…Thank you, Mike, for such a quick reply.

I just followed your instructions and I think that might have done the trick.

A few follow up questions.

• after each recording session, when I download these videos to my iMac, should I now just delete the files from the muvi camera (instead of from the muvi camera icon from my computer)? Or do you recommend that I format the sd card each time from the muvi camera after a recording session?

• do you find that the muvi camera ‘break ups’ the recording sessions into 30 minute time blocks? Sometimes when I have filmed my son’s practice match, there appears to be a few different sessions without me touching the camera. Does this mean the VOX was accidentally turned on?

• lastly, since the playback mode in the muvi camera is hard to use for viewing a recorded session and I ultimately would like to play these back from an iPad (for the portability opportunity) have you found a good iPad app (like Coach’s Eye or Ubersense) that you can use to import these newly recorded muvi sessions and then play these back in slow motion?

Thank you again for your assistance.

Much appreciate all of your help. It’s really amazing to finally provide some video for my two son’s to help them study and improve their technique.

Jerry

Hi, Jerry. Deleting files from the computer icon won’t work. For myself, I just format the card each time before I start a new session. I also have learned that I should download the files right after I take the video, because in my experience, I can’t remember two weeks later if the files had been downloaded or not. Then I hate to format a card and lose them. I think habits are a good thing to cultivate in this regard.

Depending on the settings of the camera, it does break it up into 30 minute segments – it can only handle a file size so big. This is true of ALL the action cameras, not just the MUVI. If the VOX is accidentally on, you’ll notice very, very short files of a minute or two duration.

As far as viewing on an iPad, I assume you mean “on the spot”? I don’t know of a way to transfer to directly to my ipad. If you come up with a way, please let me know!! I use my MacBook Pro laptop and a usb cord for that, and using Quicktime, I can fast forward between points pretty quick. Or for technical stuff, advance the frames one at a time using the arrow keys.

Hope that helps!

Regards,

Mike
